About Runbook Seven, an independent SSCP practice binder

Runbook Seven is an independent study project for people preparing for the SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) exam: free practice items timed to the exam’s clock, guides to the 2025 outline, and exam facts that carry the month they were checked.

Who runs Runbook Seven

Runbook Seven is published by the team behind the SSCP practice app for iPhone — the app every “Get the app” button on this site leads to. You will not find named authors, instructor biographies or team photos here. What you can check instead is the work: 60 practice items with the reasoning for all four options, a source link beside each fact that changes, and a checked date on every guide.

The site covers the free half of preparation. The practice log runs at the exam’s pace of 58 to 72 seconds an item, and the SSCP overview leads into the format, the cost and the seven domains. Nothing is gated and there is no account to create; the app holds the larger bank for when the free set runs out.

How the practice items are made and checked

Each item was written from scratch for this project’s own bank and matched to the outline effective 1 October 2025. None is copied from the exam, and none claims to be exam content. Each item went through four checks before it reached a page.

  1. Step 01

Match it to the 2025 outline

Each item is mapped to one of the seven domains. 67 items that tested pre-2025 content were removed from the pool before any selection.

  2. Step 02

    Solve it blind

Each item was answered from its stem and four options alone, on the final option order, with the key hidden. Of 127 items checked, 124 matched their key; 2 disagreed and 1 read as ambiguous, and those 3 were left out.

  3. Step 03

    Remove the giveaways

Of the 124 items prepared for the site, 67 had their wrong options trimmed so the key is not reliably the shortest one — a separate set from the 67 outdated items in step 1 — and 3 keys were reworded with the same meaning. In the 60-item log each letter, A to D, is the key exactly 15 times.

  4. Step 04

    Explain all four options

The notes came after the blind check: one on the key and one on each distractor, saying why that option fails in that scenario.

The 60 items in the log follow the outline weights: 10 each for Domains 1 and 6 at 16%, 5 for Cryptography at 9%. They are four-option multiple choice; the exam also uses what ISC2 calls advanced item types, and the exam format guide says what is known about them.

Independent of ISC2

ISC2 writes, delivers and scores the SSCP exam. Runbook Seven does none of those things, has no access to exam content, and has not had this site, its items or its guides reviewed by ISC2. ISC2 is named here only to identify the exam, and for anything that can change — booking, fees, endorsement, results — the pages link to isc2.org.

How exam facts are dated

Every exam fact on the site was last checked against isc2.org (comptia.org for the Security+ and CySA+ rows) in October 2026. Each guide prints that month in its change record, and the footer repeats it. Three kinds of fact carry their source with them:

If a page here and isc2.org disagree, isc2.org is right. Send the figure you saw, where, and the date through the route on the contact page.
